Fix Diastasis Recti: Closing the Gap
What is Diastasis Recti?
Diastasis Recti Abdominis (DRA)
is the separation of the connective tissue between the main abdominal muscles. This condition occurs between 50% and 60% of the time in pregnancies during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. (Boissonnault, 1988) It is also common in women who have had multiples or multiple pregnancies. It can also occur in men and women who have never been pregnant from improper weightlifting and other exercises. DRA can cause health problems like low back pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. (Spitznagle, 2007) sometimes, DRA closes on its own. Often times the diastasis remains open, and it silently causes trouble in your kinetic chain. DRA can be managed and corrected with a variety of different therapies including: Exercise, Kinesiology Taping, Physical Therapy, and Massage.Beautifully Connected offers a treatment that will heal diastasis more quickly than any other therapy alone:
Exercise heals you from the inside out. It helps rebuild the muscles that have become unstable during pregnancy. Some exercises that help stabilize and strengthen the core include squats, reverse crunches, and bent knee fall-outs. However, some exercises are harmful for this condition. Find a pregnancy and postpartum exercise trainer to help you heal DRA and maintain core strength during and after pregnancy. Kinesiology Tape helps support the abdominal muscles to activate correctly. Results in posture and pain are often immediate. K-tape may be a longer term solution for pain associated with severe DRA. Additionally, a physical therapist may be able to help teach you movements and exercises that will support and heal your diastasis. How is Beautifully Connected Closing the Gap?
We offer both kinesiology taping and manual therapy for mothers experiencing Diastasis Recti. We have an advanced knowledge of Neuromuscular Therapy and work with nerves, connective tissue and muscles to help your body preform optimally. We have helped over 300 women, and counting. (Since 2017)
What Our Clients Are Saying:
“I saw Brittany about a year postpartum for a persistent mild diastasis recti. She closed it right up and gave me exercises to keep it that way. Now I’m pregnant with my second baby and it hasn’t opened back up yet! I’ve also had her fix various aches and pains in my wrist and jaw and the difference is immediate and drastic! If you suffer with chronic or even periodic pain, she’s a miracle worker.””

“Wow! I had the diastasis recti assessment and therapy in home. She was very knowledgeable and gave me exercises to try. Within minutes of the body work, my abdominal area was already sore. I highly recommend!””
