Baby Shower Registry List: New Baby Must Haves

Filling out a registry is intimidating! What kind and how many items do you REALLY need? Here is our list of MUST HAVE New Baby Registry Items.

Diapers

  • 2 small bags of newborn size
  • 1 Big box of size one
  • 2 Big boxes of size two
  • ALL THE REST SIZE 3.

Realistically, Your kids will be in size 3 and 4 diapers the longest. Get bigger sizes because they will be used the longest. If all of your baby shower guests give you small diapers your baby will outgrow them.

If you are looking at cloth diapers, it is a good idea to have at least 20 of each kind! We reccomend Bumgenius.

Wipes

All of the wipes! Whether you are using cloth or disposable, you will be using wipes for 2 and 1/2 to 3 years. Get plenty.

Baby Wash

You don’t need baby wash, and shampoo. It’s the same stuff. We recommend Honest Company or California Baby.

Nail Kit

Babies are born with razors for fingernails! Be sure to get a nail kit with an emery board, so you can file those suckers down. Summer Infant has a comprehensive kit.

Gas Drops

Gas drops are so helpful! I didn’t even know they existed until I had my 3rd baby!

We recommend Mommy’s Bliss Gripe Water.

Clothes

You don’t need a ton of clothes. If you ask for clothes for your baby shower, ask for larger sizes, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months. People seem to forget that new clothes are nice after the first few months!

  • 7 Onsies
  • 2 Cute Picture Outfits/ Church Outfits
  • 12 Pairs of socks. YOU ALWAYS LOSE THE SOCKS!
  • 7 Receiving Blankets
  • 2 Baby Towels
  • 10 Cloth diaper inserts for spit up cloths!

Moses Basket

I like a moses basket better than a bassinet. I feel like it is more compact, moveable, and useable. If you will be visiting family, in the younger months, this will be a helpful item for you. Pack and plays are nice. But, they are heavy, bulky, and take up a lot of space. A moses basket is an easy and convenient way to follow safe sleeping practices. We Recommend Little Merry Fellows. They have an organic moses basket!

Crib

You may be able to get a good deal on a used crib on a garage sale site! But make sure what you are buying is NOT recalled! If you are purchasing new we recommend davinci convertible.

Breast Pads

Whether breastfeeding or bottle feeding, breast pads will be a good idea! You can buy disposables, but they always caused me skin irritation, and you have to continue to buy them. We reccomend Bamboobies. Simple. Rewashable. Reusable. Eco-Friendly.

Baby Carrier

Ring slings are awesome for newborns, because tiny babies don’t weigh a lot. They are pretty easy to use! When baby starts to get bigger, all of their weight rests on one of your shoulders. For babies that are a little bigger, we reccomend Mei Tai. A Mei Tai is more ergonomical for a larger baby. Be sure to read your operating manual to make sure your baby has reached the minimum weight requirement for the Mei Tai.We recommend Little Frog and Infantino.

Convertible Car Seat

Infant carrier seats are the cheaper option for car seats. However, the weight limit is low, and they cannot be used for a long time. Invest in a convertible car seat that grows with your child. It is the more expensive, but proves to be more economical for the long run.

Do you agree with our list? What would you add to it?
